An investigation conducted in the wrong way could create more liability in terms of potential loss than would otherwise be expended if the full claim were paid without contest. Plaintiff attorneys are not ignorant when it comes to picking apart a defense investigation. There are many legitimate avenues of investigative pursuit, however, an inexperienced or over zealous investigator is at risk of crossing the line and ultimately costing his or her client more than could have otherwise been saved. No mater how good or valuable the information, if it is obtained by unethical or illegal means, it is a liability time-bomb waiting to explode. We are acutely aware of our responsibility to our clients to minimize their risk and liability by conducting our investigations within the letter of the law and consistent with client guidelines.
